Bridge Work on Route 28 in Allenstown

Work on the Suncook River Bridge will require a lane closure throughout the summer.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will begin rehabilitation work on the Suncook River Bridge on Route 28 in Allenstown on Monday, May 2, 2022. This project consists of a replacement of the bridge superstructure as well as rehabilitation of the bridge substructure.

Starting Monday, May 2, 2022, one lane of Route 28 will be closed to facilitate the construction of the Northbound portion of the bridge. The Southern portion will be completed next year. The traveling public will experience minor delays as they pass through the construction zone due to a signalized alternating one way configuration over the bridge. Motorists should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs. Traffic will be restored to two lane travel in late October 2022.

Evroks Corporation of Northfield, NH is the general contractor for the $3.2 million bridge replacement project, which has a final completion date of October 2023.
