Daytime Lane Closures on I-95 in Portsmouth
Traffic will be impacted on I-95 Southbound.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will start day work for the 43760 Portsmouth project on I-95 Southbound consisting of the realignment of portable concrete barriers along the right shoulder. The shoulder will be reduced from 8’ to 2’ for approximately 5 months.
Weather dependent, this work is scheduled to be done between the hours of 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM on Wednesday April 30, 2025. This work will require the use of a lane closure; the right lane and shoulder of Southbound I-95 will be closed from the Exit 4 on ramp (MM 13.8) to the Exit 3A off ramp (MM 13.0).
Message boards, uniformed officers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the travelling public. Road users are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.
This work is part of the construction of two sound abatement walls and privacy fence along I-95 in Portsmouth. Northeast Earth Mechanics, Inc. of Pittsfield, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $18.7 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
