Lane Shifts on I-89 in Lebanon

Changes will facilitate construction work through September

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will implement lane shifts on I-89 in Lebanon, starting on August 9, 2021, to facilitate rehabilitation work on the bridge over the Mascoma River.

The I-89 southbound right lane will be shifted to the right shoulder and the left lane will be shifted into the median, and then onto the northbound left lane to cross the Mascoma River.  The lane will then shift back to southbound once it crosses the river. This lane shift will be protected with concrete barrier to separate northbound and southbound traffic.

Signs will be in place between exit 20 and exit 19 southbound to notifying wide loads to keep in the right lane which will have a width of 16 feet while the left lane will be 14 feet wide.

To allow for shifting southbound traffic onto the northbound lane, the northbound lanes will be shifted to the right at the exit 19 northbound off ramp.  The right and left shoulders will be closed at this location.

Message boards and temporary construction signs will be in place at each approach to help traffic navigate the lane shifts. Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through this construction zone.

This work is part of the Lebanon 41191 project that is scheduled to be complete in October 2022.

The Prime contractor is ED Swett of Concord, NH.
