Nighttime Lane Closures on I-95 in Portsmouth
Traffic will be impacted on I-95 Northbound and Southbound
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will start night work for the 43760 Portsmouth project on I-95 Southbound on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. This work will consist of the realignment of portable concrete barrier along the right shoulder starting at the Exit 4 on ramp (MM 13.6) to Exit 3A off ramp (MM 13.0). The shoulder will be reduced from 8’ to 2’ for approximately 6 months.
Concurrently work will begin on I-95 Northbound from the Exit 5 on ramp (MM 14.6) to the Exit 7 off ramp (MM 15.0). This work will consist of the removal of portable concrete barrier from the shoulder.
Weather dependent, this work is scheduled to be done between the hours of 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM. This work will require the use of lane closures, the right lane and shoulder of Southbound I-95 will be closed from the Exit 4 on ramp (MM 13.8) to the Exit 3A off ramp MM 13.0, the right lane and shoulder of Northbound I-95 will be closed from the Exit 5 on ramp (MM 14.6) to the Exit 7 off ramp (MM 15.0).
Message boards, uniformed officers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the travelling public.
This work is part of the construction of two sound abatement walls and privacy fence along I-95 in Portsmouth. Northeast Earth Mechanics, Inc. of Pittsfield, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $18.7 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
