Nighttime Lane Closures on I-95 Southbound in Portsmouth

Temporary lane closures will impact travel for approximately 2 days

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will perform nighttime work on I-95 southbound and will start from the Exit 4 on ramp (MM 13.6) to Exit 3A off ramp (MM 13.0). This work will consist of the placement of portable concrete barriers along the right shoulder.  

Weather dependent, work hours will begin on Tuesday March 11, 2025, through Thursday March 13, 2025, between the hours of 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM.  This work will require the closure of the southbound right lane and shoulder of I-95 from the Exit 4 on ramp (MM 13.8) to the Exit 3A off ramp MM 13.0.

Message boards, uniformed officers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the travelling public. Motorists should exercise caution when driving through the construction zone.

This work is part of the construction of two sound abatement walls and privacy fence along I-95 in Portsmouth. Northeast Earth Mechanics, Inc. of Pittsfield, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $18.7 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
