Nighttime Lane Closures in Portsmouth
Traffic will be impacted on I-95 Northbound.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will start night work in Portsmouth on I-95 Northbound on Monday, December 2, through Thursday, December 5, 2024. This work will consist of the placement of portable concrete barrier along the Northbound right shoulder starting at the Exit 5 on-ramp (MM 14.6) to the Exit 7 off-ramp (MM 15.0). The existing shoulder will be reduced from 13 feet to 2 feet for approximately six (6) months.
Weather permitting, this work is scheduled to be done between the hours of 8:00 pm and 5:00 am each night and will require the use of lane closures in the work zone.
Message boards, uniformed officers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the traveling public. Road users should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs. Motorists are encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.
This work is part of the construction of two sound abatement walls and privacy fence along I-95 in Portsmouth. Northeast Earth Mechanics, Inc. of Pittsfield, New Hampshire is the general contractor for the $18.7 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
