Road Closure on South Bennington Road in Bennington

A section of the road will be closed for three weeks to replace box culvert and water line.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will begin work on the bridge that carries South Bennington Road over Russell Brook in Bennington, NH on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.  Weather permitting, this phase of the project will take approximately three weeks to complete.  Final paving, guardrail and line painting work will be done in September.

The closure will allow for the towns of Antrim and Bennington to replace an existing water line and for the removal and replacement of the existing box culvert. While South Bennington road is closed to thru traffic at the bridge, motorists are advised to access the southern end of the South/Old Bennington road via Forest Road off of NH Route 202.

Message boards and construction signs will be used to notify the traveling public of the closure and other traffic pattern changes. Motorists should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs.

Weaver Brothers of Bow, NH is the prime contractor for this $750,000 bridge replacement project. The intermediate completion date for the bridge opening is August 26, 2022, with a final completion date of September 30, 2022.
