Road Work on Route 25 in Sandwich-Tamworth

Temporary lane closures will impact road users for several days.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will begin daytime road work on NH Route 25, eastbound and westbound, from Vittum Hill Road in Sandwich to Lords Hill Road in Tamworth on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Weather permitting crack sealing, guardrail repair, and shoulder graveling work will require temporary lane closures between 6 am and 6 pm for several days. One lane will remain open and road users will be directed by flaggers through the work zone.

On Monday, August 5, 2024 a chip seal pavement treatment will be applied which will complete the work to this section of Route 25.  This work is also weather dependent and will require temporary lane closures for several days.

Message boards, flaggers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the traveling public.  Road users are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/

This work is part of the Statewide Tier 2 Paving contract in the Lakes Region (Alton, Gilford, Meredith-Center Harbor, Sandwich-Tamworth and Barnstead), which includes paving sections along NH Route 25 in Meredith-Center Harbor, NH Route 11 in Gilford, NH Route 11 in Alton and in Alton-Barnstead along NH Route 28.

Pike Industries of Belmont, NH is the general contractor for the $9.7 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2025.
