** UPDATE** New Traffic Pattern I-89 SB in VT and NH and Temporary Ramp Closures at Exit 10A North on I-91 in VT and Exit 20 South on I-89 in Lebanon, NH
Traffic pattern changes and ramp closures will impact traffic for five days
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will shift the existing I-89 southbound lanes in Vermont onto the newly completed southbound bridge over the Connecticut river. Preconstruction work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 31, 2025, with the actual shift of traffic scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2025. During this work temporarily closures of the I-91 exit 10A northbound off-ramp and the I-89 Exit 20 southbound off-ramp to Route 12A will be required.
**UPDATE**
Due to weather, the following are new tentative dates and times for the closures:
I-91 Northbound Exit 10A Off-ramp: Opening 6:00 pm Tuesday April 8, 2025.
(Exit 10A is currently closed and will remain closed until the work at Exit 20 is complete).
I-89 Southbound Exit 20 Off Ramp: 6:00 am Monday April 7, 2025, to 6:00 pm Tuesday April 8, 2025.
The construction is anticipated to last five days while the necessary drainage and road reconstruction work is completed. The ramps are scheduled to reopen during the evening of Friday, April 4, 2025. During the construction both short-term and long-term I-89 southbound right lane closures will be required to complete the work. The work schedule is weather dependent, and the start date is subject to change.
A detour for I-91 Exit 10A utilizing message boards and temporary construction signs will be put in place directing traffic to use I-91 northbound Exit 12 to reverse directions to I-91 southbound where they can use the Exit 10A southbound off-ramp to I-89 southbound.
A detour for I-89 Exit 20 utilizing message boards and temporary construction signs will direct traffic to use I-89 southbound Exit 19 to reverse directions to I-89 northbound where they can use the Exit 20 northbound off-ramp to Route 12A.
Motorists may encounter delays between the I-89 southbound to I-91 southbound off ramp and Exit 19 in Lebanon during construction.
Motorists should remain alert while traveling through the construction zone and obey all posted signs. Motorists are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.
