Paul commenced his career with the NHDOT's Construction Bureau in May 1984, immediately after obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UNH. From 1984 to 2006, he held various roles, progressing from Assistant Project Engineer to Project Engineer and ultimately to Contract Administrator. Throughout these years, Paul contributed his expertise to diverse projects spanning multiple towns across New Hampshire, including Raymond, Tamworth, Albany, Effingham, Pembroke, Concord, Chichester, Dover, Epping, Brentwood, Exeter, Bedford, Pelham, and Manchester.

In 2006, Paul transitioned to the role of District Construction Engineer (DCE) in the western part of the state. His responsibilities expanded in 2007 when he assumed the role of DCE for the southern region during the I-93 Salem-Manchester project. Today, Paul serves in that capacity, overseeing projects and operations in the seacoast portion of the state.
