Bridge Work on Route 101 and 202 in Peterborough

Daily lane closures will be required to facilitate fine grading and paving activities.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces the start of the final phase of work on the bridge that carries NH Route 101 and NH Route 202 over the Contoocook River in Peterborough, NH.

Weather permitting, pavement removal and re-grading of portions of NH Route 101 and NH Route 202 adjacent to the bridge will begin on Tuesday April 9, 2024. Pavement removal, fine grading, and base paving work is expected to take two weeks. Traffic will be maintained on gravel with limited markings during fine grading.

The grading and paving work is expected to cause delays during work hours. Lane shifts and closures may be utilized to move traffic safely through the work zone. Motorists should allow for extra travel time or consider alternate routes.

Portable message boards will be utilized to alert motorists of the date the work will be performed. Motorists should remain alert while traveling through the work zone and obey all posted signs.

E.D. Swett of Concord, NH is the prime contractor for this $8.5 million bridge replacement project, which is scheduled to be completed in June, 2024.
