Charlestown, NH – Springfield, VT 41478 Public Officials Meeting

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will hold a Public Officials Meeting to discuss the rehabilitation of the bridge located on NH 11 over the Connecticut River between the Towns of Charlestown, NH, and Springfield, VT. These repairs will require the bridge to be closed for a period of time. 

The scope of work consists of preservation efforts including steel superstructure repairs and painting, and substructure concrete repairs. This project may have an effect on cultural or historic resources that are potentially eligible for or listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Individuals or organizations with a demonstrated interest in the potential impacts to historic resources have an opportunity to become Consulting Parties under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.   

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the Community Room below the Silsby Library, 26 Railroad Street, Charlestown, NH as part of the regularly scheduled Selectboard’s meeting starting at 6:30 pm. 

The purpose of this meeting is to present citizens and public officials with information regarding the proposed project and to solicit public input in order to ensure that project decisions meet public transportation needs, community goals, and protect and enhance the environment.  Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting.
