Bridge work will require a temporary detour between 9AM and 2PM

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) will temporarily detour NH Route 28 traffic on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 9 am to 2 pm to perform bridge work at the Suncook River Bridge near Mile Marker 38.

Northbound traffic will be detoured off Route 28 to River Road where they will follow detour signs to turn onto Buck Street. Once on Buck Street motorists will continue north approximately three miles to the Route 28 intersection.

Southbound traffic will be detoured off Route 28 to Buck Street where they will follow detour signs for approximately three miles to Turnpike Street. Traffic will continue south on Turnpike Street to the Route 28 intersection.

This detour is necessary to allow crews to work on the Route 28 bridge over the Suncook River at the Allenstown/Pembroke town line.

Message boards and traffic control devices will be used to notify the traveling public. Flaggers and Uniformed Officers will also be utilized to aid in the detour.  Motorists should remain alert while traveling through the work zone and obey all posted signs.

Motorists are also encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic related messages (text or email) from https://newengland511.org/.
