Request for Proposals for the Flying Yankee Train

Proposals are due by 3:00PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2024

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) is accepting proposals for the purchase, relocation and encouraged restoration of the historic train known as the Flying Yankee, currently located in the town of Lincoln, NH.  

The Request for Proposals and other information including location maps, inventory form, and draft historic covenants, are available on the Department’s Cultural Resources webpage at: https://www.dot.nh.gov/projects-plans-and-programs/programs/cultural-resources, under the heading “The Flying Yankee Information and Documentation.”   

The Flying Yankee is available for inspection on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in Lincoln, New Hampshire.  The Flying Yankee trucks and components are available for inspection the same day from 1:00-2:30 pm in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire.  These inspections will be under the observation of staff from NHDOT.  Attendees are encouraged to wear closed-toed footwear.
